No. 43 Columbia Outlasts No. 36 Washington, 4-0

ATHENS, Ga.  – The University of Washington men’s tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 43 Columbia on Sunday in the consolation match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend hosted by the University of Georgia.

The Dawgs lost the doubles point with Viktor Farkas and Max Manthou falling 6-2 and Michael Chamerski and Wendall Watanabe being outlasted 6-1. Down 1-0 heading into singles action, freshman Gal Hakak took Ashok Narayana to a tiebreak in the second set but ended up falling 6-4, 6-5 (7-0) in the No. 3 match.

Emmett Egger, playing in the No. 1 spot, was defeated by eighth-ranked Winston Lin 6-3, 6-3, and Jeff Hawke’s three-set loss to Max Schnur (4-6, 6-0, 6-1) clinched the match for the Lions.

Up next for the Dawgs is a road match at No. 24 Tulsa on Feb. 1.
