Larry Ndjock to Join UCLA Men’s Soccer Team for Fall of 2014
The UCLA men's soccer team has announced that Loyola University Maryland forward Larry Ndjock has transferred to UCLA and will be eligible to play for the Bruins in the fall of 2014. Ndjock, a native of Berlin, Germany, will enter the 2014 season as a junior and will have two seasons of eligibility left.
Ndjock enjoyed a great two-career at Loyola Maryland, scoring a total of 25 goals and recording 54 points. As a freshman in 2012, he led the MAAC in goals with 13 and game-winning goals en route to winning MAAC Rookie of the Year honors. Ndjock also was the lone rookie on the NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region Team, earning second-team honors, and was also the only freshman on the All-MAAC First Team. Additionally, he earned second-team All-Freshman honors from College Soccer News and finished the year as the second-ranked freshman in the NCAA in scoring, tying for 18th in total goals.
In the summer of 2013, Ndjock played for Reading United of the Premier Development League, appearing in six matches and scoring four goals. He followed up his stellar freshman campaign with a great sophomore season this past fall, leading the Patriot League with 12 goals and notching one assist while ranking second in the NCAA with 0.86 goals per game. In addition, Ndjock finished the season ranked as the No. 41 overall player in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. After being named the 2013 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Ndjock was rewarded for his outstanding season by earning All-Patriot League honors.
"We are very happy to have Larry Ndjock join our program," head coach Jorge Salcedo said. "It is difficult to find a proven collegiate player that fills a specific need for our team. We lost very talented strikers from our 2013 team and Larry will immediately lessen the loss of those impactful players. He has scored several goals in his first two years in college and I am confident that the talent and ability that he will be surrounded by will help him flourish at UCLA. Larry is a great addition to our program and we look forward to him playing an integral role in our quest to having a very successful 2014 season."
