Feb 4, 2014

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Pac-12 women’s gymnastics weekly honors for the week of Jan. 27 - Feb. 2. UTAH’s Tory Wilson was named the Gymnast of the Week, UTAH’s Georgia Dabritz was voted Specialist of the Week, and UCLA’s Hallie Mossett was selected as the Freshman/Newcomer of the Week.

Tory Wilson won her third all-around title of the season to lift No. 4 Utah over No. 19 Arizona State, 197.200-194.900.  Wilson, a junior from Albuquerque, N.M., finished in the top two on vault (9.925), beam (9.85), and floor (9.875). She scored a 9.80 on bars, finishing in fifth. Her efforts earned her a score of 39.45 in the all-around, good for first place.

Utah junior Georgia Dabritz earned her fourth-consecutive Specialist of the Week honor as she helped lead the No.4-ranked Utes past the No. 19-ranked Sun Devils, 197.200-194.900. The Newburyport, Mass., native won two of the three events she competed in. Ranked No. 2 in the nation on bars, Dabritz improved to 4-0 in the event with a score of 9.925.  She also won her third consecutive floor title, scoring a 9.95. Dabritz and fellow Gymnast of the Week award winner, Tory Wilson, helped Utah head coach Greg Marsden become the first 1,000-win coach in NCAA gymnastics history.

Bruin freshman Hallie Mossett helped No. 9-ranked UCLA record season-highs on both bars (49.300) and beam (49.050) in a road win over No. 22 California, 196.575-195.550. Mossett tied for first place on bars with a career-high 9.90 and tying for second on beam with a career-high 9.875. She has hit all 12 routines she has competed in this season and averages 9.75 or better on each event.

This is Utah’s first Gymnast of the Week honor for the 2014 season and fourth all-time. This will mark the fourth consecutive week that Georgia Dabritz has earned the Specialist of the Week honor and her 5th all-time. Mossett’s first Freshman of the Week award will mark the second time this season UCLA has earned this honor and the fifth time  overall since the award was introduced last year.

Gymnast of the Week has been selected every week of the season since 2001. The Specialist of the Week award was added in 2008. It is the second year for Freshman/Newcomer of the Week.
