No. 13 Women’s Golf Top Five After Round One

TUCSON, Ariz. After round one of play at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge, No. 13 Arizona women’s golf shares a tie for fifth place in the team standings. The Wildcats placed three players in the top 20 on Sunday. The Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, hosted by Ohio State, is being held at the Palos Verdes Golf Club (par 71, 6,017 yards) in Palos Verdes, Calif. Rounds two and three will be held Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

Baylor leads the team race with a 286 (+2). No. 1 USC is second with a 288 (+4) while No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 Duke share third place with rounds of 290 (+6). The Wildcats share fifth place with No. 4 Washington and No. 5 Oklahoma. The trio of teams shot rounds of 292 (+8). Annie Park of USC leads the individual race after a round one score of 67 (-4).

Junior Andrea Vilarasau, No. 35 sophomore Lindsey Weaver and freshman Jessica Vasilic paced Arizona on Sunday, sitting in the top 20 in an eight-way tie for 16th place. The Wildcat trio shot an opening round of 72 (+1). Juniors Manon Gidali and No. 91 Kendall Prince share a 13-way tie for 41st place. The Arizona duo shot an opening round 76 (+5).

Round two begins at 10:15 a.m. MT on Monday for the Wildcats and they’ll be paired with No. 3 Duke and No. 4 Washington. Live results are available at golfstatresults.com. A complete recap and results will be available at ArizonaWildcats.com after each day of competition.
