WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 17-23. STANFORD’s Chiney Ogwumike was voted the Pac-12 Player of the Week for a Conference-record eighth time, while WASHINGTON’s Kelsey Plum was tabbed the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for a seventh time this season, also a league record.

Senior forward Chiney Ogwumike (Cypress, Texas) averaged 26.5 points and 11.0 rebounds as No. 5/4 Stanford swept USC and UCLA to clinch outright its 14th-straight Pac-12 regular-season title and 23rd all-time. Ogwumike opened the weekend with 27 points on Friday night as the Cardinal overcame a 19-point, first-half deficit to claim a 64-59 road win at USC. In Sunday’s 65-56 win at UCLA, Ogwumike posted her 20th double-double of the year with 26 points and 15 rebounds, in the process passing older sister Nnemkadi Ogwumike (2,491 career points) for second on Stanford’s all-time scoring list.

Guard Kelsey Plum (Poway, Calif.) had a career game in the 108-100 win over Oregon. She set a Husky freshman-scoring record with 38 points going 11-for-22 from the floor, including 6-for-12 from three-point range, while making 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Plum also added six rebounds and five assists without a turnover. Plum also broke the UW single-season freshman scoring record in the game, getting to 536 points, one better than junior teammate Jazmine Davis in 2012. Sunday, Plum scored 26 points with eight rebounds and two assists as the Huskies fell to Oregon State, 77-57. The second-highest scoring freshman in the nation, she averaged 32.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for the week, shooting 50 percent from the floor and 43.9 percent from long range.

It is Ogwumike’s Pac-12-record 17th-career weekly nod and Stanford’s 98th all-time.

A player of the week has been selected every week since 1986-87, the first year the Conference sponsored women’s sports. A freshman of the week was first selected in 2012-13.

The Huskies and Cardinal square off this week in the final week of the regular season. Stanford hosts UW on Thursday, Feb. 27 for a rematch of the Feb. 9 matchup that saw Washington upset Stanford in Seattle. Thursday’s game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks at 8 p.m. PT. The Cardinal wraps up its regular season hosting Washington State on Saturday, March 1, while UW concludes its regular season at California. Both of those games will also be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks, as well.
