Women’s Golf Finishes Eighth At Bruin Wave

TARZANA, Calif. The Oregon State women’s golf team finished in eighth place and senior Lauren Sewell posted a top-20 finish at the Bruin Wave Invitational that concluded on Tuesday.
The Beavers finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 62-over 301-309-316--926 at the par-72, 6,173-yard El Caballero Country Club to place eighth in the 17-team field. No. 1 USC won the team title with a 1-under 863, while hosts Pepperdine and UCLA were second and third, respectively, with a 12-over 876 and 22-over 886.
“Today the golf course managed the players in the entire field, not the other way around,” Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. “However, Oregon State stayed in eighth with a gutsy closing three holes beating 43rd-ranked UNLV, 44th-ranked San Diego state and 52nd-ranked Colorado. There is so much we can learn from today regarding how to handle a difficult golf course set up and mangling our emotions and commitments under pressure. This will give us experience to rely on in situations we will face in the future.”
