CORVALLIS, Ore. – After a two-week layoff, the Oregon State men’s golf team returns to action when it competes at the Lamkin San Diego Classic Monday and Tuesday in Chula Vista, Calif.

FIELD (13): Oregon State, CSU-San Marcos, Michigan, Notre Dame, Pepperdine, Saint Joseph’s, San Diego, San Diego State, Seattle, UC Irvine, USC, Utah and Wake Forest.

COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,033-yard San Diego Country Club.

BEAVERS’ LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of senior David Fink, juniors Alex Franklin and Scott Kim, redshirt freshman Brett Johnson and freshman Kevin Murphy. It’s the first time Johnson has made the starting lineup in his Oregon State career. He competed as an individual at the Kikkor Husky Invitational this past fall and shot a 10-over 76-78-69--223 for a tie for 25th place.

FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.

TEE TIMES: There will be a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday and tee times off the first and 10th holes from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

LAST TIME OUT: Oregon State finished the 23-team Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate in fifth place and David Fink tied for 10th, which was held Friday, Feb. 21 to Sunday, Feb. 23.

Fink held the clubhouse lead after the second round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament but was unable to find the magic he had the first two days as he shot 4-over 76. He still posted a top-10 finish with a 4-under 69-67-76--212 at the par-72, 7,305-yard Classic Club.

The Beavers also slipped a bit as they shot a 1-over 289 in the final round after firing back-to-back 5-under 283’s the first two days to finish fifth with a 9-under 855. Oregon won the team title with a 27-under 837 and Colorado finished second with a 24-under 840.

Kevin Murphy and Scott Kim both shot sub-par rounds on the final day with Murphy posting a 2-under 70 and Kim carding a 1-under 71. Murphy finished in a tie for 19th place with a 3-under 70-73-70--213 and Kim moved up eight spots into a tie for 42nd with a 1-over 74-72-71--217. Alex Franklin also tied for 42nd with a 1-over 72-71-74--217 and Brian Jung finished with an 8-over 72-78-74--224.
