No. 4 Women’s Golf Tied for 15th at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C.—The fourth-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team heads into the final round of competition at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate tied for 15th.  The Sun Devils shot a 299 in the second round on Saturday for a two-day total of 42-over 610 (311-299). 

The third-ranked Duke Blue Devils sit comfortably atop the leader board at 7-over 575.  Stephanie Meadow of Alabama holds on to the top spot after two rounds of play with a score of 3-under 139.

Junior Noemi Jimenez tops the leader board for Arizona State, shooting a score of 1-over 143 (71-72) through 36 holes to tie for sixth.  Freshman Monica Vaughn shot a 6-over 77 in the second round, tying her for 60th with a two-round total of 13-over 155 (78-77). 

Freshman Saki Iida moved up a few spots after a much-improved second round, shooting 16-over 158 (83-75) though 36 holes, tying her for 76th.  After struggling in the first round, junior Emilie Alonso managed to jump several spots as well.  Alonso is tied at 79th with a two-round total of 17-over 159 (84-75). 

Senior Justine Lee, who carded six bogeys on the back nine Saturday, has yet to find her groove.  Beginning the day tied for 67th, Lee finished the round at 81st with a score of 18-over 160 (79-81). 

The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate concludes tomorrow at the par-71, 6,142-yard Long Cove Golf Club. Live scoring for the tournament is available at www.golfstat.com
