SAN DIEGO, Calif.—The sixth-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team is tied for third place with top-ranked USC after the second round of competition at the SDSU Farms Invitational. The Sun Devils shot a 4-under 284 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 3-over 579 (295-284).
Junior Emilie Alonso vaulted up the leader board from 29th to seventh place after carding six birdies and shooting a 4-under 68 in the second round. Alonso has a two-round total of 1-under 143 (75-68) and is tied for seventh with teammate Noemi Jimenez. Jimenez, who shot even-par 72 in the first round, shot a 1-under 71 and carded four birdies on Tuesday.
Senior Justine Lee shot another 1-over 73, tying her for 17th place. Lee has a score of 2-over 146 through 36 holes.
Senior Dani Ordonez and freshman Monica Vaughn are tied for 34th overall, with two-round totals of 6-over 150. Ordonez, who shot a 6-over 78 in the first round, improved to an even-par 72 in the second round. For the second day in a row, Vaughn shot a 3-over 75.
UCLA still holds the top spot on the team leader board with a two-round total of 5-under 571, while SDSU’s Emma Henrikson has moved into first place on the individual leader board with a 7-under 137 through 36 holes.
The final round of the SDSU Farms Invitational takes place tomorrow at the par-72, 6,237-yard Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Live scoring for the tournament is available at www.birdiefire.com.
