Pac-12 Networks receives a pair of nominations for 35th Annual Sports Emmy Awards
Rick Neuheisel named among best in Outstanding Studio Analyst category, while Networks’ exclusive Multicam MI/O recognized in George Wensel Technical Achievement
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. (March 26, 2014) – In only its second year of existence, Pac-12 Networks has been honored among its industry peers, receiving its first-ever for the 35th Annual Sports Emmy Awards from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) this afternoon.
With the academy receiving over 900 submissions across 39 categories, Pac-12 Networks studio analyst Rick Neuheisel joins Cris Collinsworth (Showtime), Al Leiter (MLB Network), Harold Reynolds (MLB Network/FOX), Michael Strahan (FOX) and Tom Verducci (tbs/MLB Network) in the ‘Outstanding Sports Personality – Studio Analyst’ category.
Additionally, Pac-12 Networks’ innovative Multicam MI/O technology was recognized in The George Wensel Technical Achievement Award group, which honors the best in new technology innovations among sports networks. The Multicam MI/O is the first technology of its kind, making it possible to relocate most technical production components necessary to produce live sporting events from the remote site to Pac-12 Networks’ technical operations center in San Francisco.
“It is beyond exciting for our hard-working team here at Pac-12 Networks to receive two nominations from the Academy for the 35th Annual Sports Emmy Awards,” said Lydia Murphy-Stephans, Pac-12 Networks President. “From the onset, we embraced new technology, welcomed innovative thinking and created a spirit of collaboration that Rick brings to every show and that defines our technology team in their development of the MI/O system. I couldn’t be prouder of our team’s accomplishments.”
In only its second year, Pac-12 Networks will produce 750 live events over the 2013-14 collegiate athletic season, plus 13 original series, including post-produced and studio based shows across one national and six regional networks. The Networks are solely dedicated to the Pac-12 Conference and its nationally-acclaimed sport programs that account for 464 national titles, more than any other sport conference.
Winners will be announced at the 35th Annual Sports Emmy Awards being held on Tuesday, May 6 at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.
