Co-hosts UO places fifth at inaugural Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. -- Co-hosting the inaugural Silverado Showdown, the Oregon women’s golf team put together three solid rounds and placed fifth in a loaded-15 team field. The Ducks finished with a three-round tally of 886 (+22) on the Silverado Resort North Course, notching their eighth top five team finish this season.

Oregon played its best round in Tuesday’s finale with a four-over par, 292, after opening with rounds of 296 and 298 on Monday. Junior Cassy Isagawa and freshman Cathleen Santoso placed in the top 11 to lead Oregon, who finished above four ranked teams and tied with No. 9 Arizona.

No. 11 Washington won the inaugural event with a stellar eight-under closing round. UW’s SooBin Kim earned medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 207 (-9). Five of the top six teams on the leaderboard hailed from the Pac-12. The tournament was co-hosted by Oregon and Colorado at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif.

Isagawa provided UO’s top finish, tying for sixth with a three-round score of 215 (-1). The Wailuku, Hawaii, native has placed in the top ten in seven tournaments and has finished below par in five tournaments this season. After consecutive rounds of 71 (-1) on Monday, Isagawa closed with a one-over par, 73, today. The two-time All-Pac-12 selection birdied holes No. 3, 9 and 16 and made 11 pars in her final round.

Freshman Cathleen Santoso improved to 11th place with a clean two-under par, 70, closing round. Santoso played the front nine at two-under (34) with three birdies and a bogey, and made nine pars on the back side. The Sydney, Australia, native finished with a 54-hole score of 218 (+2) and secured her fourth top 11 finish of the season.

With three consecutive rounds of 75 (+3), sophomore Caroline Inglis tied for 32nd with a three-round mark of 225 (+9). The Eugene native birdied the par-four fourth hole and par-five 18th hole in today’s round.

Freshman Marcella Pranovia tied for 52nd with a 54-hole score of 233 (+17), carding rounds of 80, 74, and 79. Pranovia made birdie on holes No. 9 and 13 to go along with nine pars in today’s closing round.

Junior Cali Hipp finished with her best round of the tournament, a two-over par 74, and improved seven spots to 62nd place. Hipp birdied holes No. 1 and 5 and played the front nine at even par before going two-over (38) on the back side.

Oregon will now set its sights on the postseason, which will begin April 25-27 with the Pac-12 Championships in Corvallis, Ore. The tournament will be held at the Trysting Tree Golf Club. The Ducks close the regular season with a round average of 297.65. UO is in pursuit of its fifth straight NCAA Regional appearance under head coach Ria Scott.
