No. 9 Arizona Places Fifth at Silverado Showdown
TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona women’s golf concluded the final day of the Silverado Showdown with a fifth-place finish on Tuesday. Hosted by Colorado and Oregon, the two-day tournament was held at the Silverado Resort and Spa North Course (par 72, 6,196 yards) from April 14-15.
No. 11 Washington stayed on top all three rounds for the win with a total of 861 (-3). No. 1 USC fell to the Huskies with an 874 (+10). No. 9 Arizona shot a team total of 886 (+22) with rounds of 294 (+6), 296 (+8) and 296 (+8) to round out the top five teams.
No. 17 sophomore Lindsey Weaver finished the individual race with a combined score of 208 (-8) for a runner-up finish. Weaver was just one shot from the individual winner SooBin Kim of Washington. She fired rounds of 69 (-3), 67 (-5) and 72 (E). Weaver now has 12 rounds at or below par on the season.
Junior Kendall Prince finished in 15th place after scoring a third round of 74 (+2) for a combined total of 220 (+4). No. 31 freshman Wanasa Zhou ended in a two-way tie for 38th place. She earned a final round of 78 (+6) for a score of 228 (+12).
No. 79 freshman Jessica Vasilic improved with a third round of 72 (E) to move up to a three-way tie for 43rd place. Her three rounds gave her a combined score of 230 (+14). No. 92 junior Andrea Vilarasau rounded out the Arizona five with an improved two-way tie for 71st place. She earned a total score of 244 (+28) after a third round of 78 (+6).
