Pan Named Semifinalist For 2014 Hogan Award

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Colonial Country Club, Friends of Golf and Golf Coaches Association of America announced the 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award on Wednesday, a list that includes Washington's Cheng-Tsung Pan.

The Husky junior was named a semifinalist for the third-straight year, joining Patrick Rodgers of Stanford as they only other player on the list to accomplish that feat.

The other semifinalists include Bryson Dechambeau of SMU, Greg Eason of UCF, Joey Garber of Georgia, Brandon Hagy of California, Ollie Schniederjans of Georgia Tech, Robby Shelton of Alabama, Cameron WIlson of Stanford and Bobby Wyatt of Alabama.

Pan is enjoying another outstanding season for the 11th-ranked Huskies. He won the Kikkor Husky Invitational in the fall, his fourth collegiate victory and has three top-10's on the year. He also leads the Dawgs with a 69.81 scoring average, which ranks third in the nation.

Earlier this spring, Pan qualified for the British Open after finishing third at the Open Qualifier in Thailand. It will be his third major championship after playing in two U.S. Opens.

Pan is looking to become the second consecutive Husky and third UW player overall to win the Hogan Award. Chris Williams won the prestigious award last year and Nick Taylor earned the honor in 2010.

Pan and the Dawgs have completed the regular season, but begin postseason on April 25 with the first round of the Pac-12 Championships. The three-day event (April 25-27) will be hosted by Arizona at Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Ariz.
