MARANA, Ariz. -- The STANFORD Cardinal extended their lead with a 7-over 367 during a third round played in a variety of weather conditions and hold a commanding 21-stroke lead over defending Pac-12 Champion CALIFORNIA heading into Sunday’s final round at the Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championship at The Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Ariz. 

 

No. 3 Stanford entires the final round at 3-over (362-354-367–1083), followed by No. 4 California at 23-over (368-354-382–1104) and No. 10 WASHINGTON at 27-over (368-369-370–1107). 

 

Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers continues to pace the field at 7-under par (71-65-73–209) and holds a five-stroke lead over USC’s Paul Smith who completed the third round at 2-under (71-71-72–214), followed by Washington’s Cheng-Tsung Pan at 1-under (75-70-70–215). They are the only golfers to complete three rounds of the Championship under par.

 

Following Friday’s second round that was suspended due to darkness, Rodgers needed to complete his final two holes Saturday morning before beginning the third round of competition. He went eagle-par to complete the second round with a 7-under 65.

 

Battling a variety of conditions that featured cool temperatures and high winds in the morning, mid-afternoon rain and finishing under sunny skies, Smith was one of eight golfers who played the third round at even par or better.

 

COLORADO’s Yannik Paul posted the low score of the day with a 3-under 69, which was key in leading the Buffs to the low team score of the day at 4-over 364 and moving them up from 11th to sixth after three rounds

 

The Championship will conclude with the final round on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. PT
