Fink Fires 69 In Final Round Of Pac-12’s

MARANA, Ariz. – Senior David Fink showed his perseverance and fight by firing a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Pac-12 Championship on Sunday, but the Oregon State men’s golf team was unable to climb the leaderboard and now waits to see if it will advance to postseason play.

The Beavers battled a tough desert course and howling winds to shoot a 64-over 373-366-394-371--1,504 in the six-count-five format at the par-72, 7,349-yard Gallery Golf Club to finish in 10^th place at the three-day, 72-hole tournament.

Oregon State has to wait eight days to see if it earns its eighth consecutive berth to the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships.

The 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships selections will be announced live via the Golf Channel on Monday, May 5 at 7 a.m. Additionally, the show will be streamed live on the Golf Channel website and posted afterwards on the NCAA website at www.ncaa.com.

Fink had a rollercoaster tournament by shooting a 9-over 81 in the first round, an even-par 72 in the second round, a 7-over 79 in the third round and a 3-under 69 on Sunday. He finished in a tie for 36^th place with a 13-over 301 and will go down as one of the all-time best golfers in Oregon State history regardless if the Beavers advance to postseason play or not.

Junior Scott Kim and sophomore Brian Jung led the Beavers on the individual scoreboard as both players finished with a 12-over 300 to finish in a tie for 31^st place. Kim went 72-74-79-75 over the four rounds, while Jung posted scores of 74-72-79-75.

Junior Alex Franklin, who will also return next season for his second year in the orange and black after transferring, finished in a tie for 36^th place with a 13-over 72-75-77-77--301. Kevin Murphy, who has enjoyed a sensational freshman campaign, shot a 20-over 79-73-80-76--308 to finish in a tie for 52^nd place and sophomore Tyler Carlson finished in a tie for 56^th with a 23-over 76-79-80-76--311.

Stanford was the only team to finish in red figures and ran away with the team title with a 2-under 1,438 and Patrick Rodgers of Stanford won medalist honors by two strokes over Cheng-Tsung Pan of Washington with a 7-under 281.

The best action from all three days of the Pac-12 Championship will be packed into one hour at 11 a.m. PT on Sunday, May 11 on the Pac-12 Networks and online via Pac-12 Now.
