CLE ELUM, Wash.—With four golfers in the top 15 on the individual leader board, the sixth-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team is tied for first place with top-ranked Southern California after the second round of the NCAA West Regional.  The Sun Devils have a two-round total of 2-over 578 (289-289) at the par-72, 6,252-yard Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash.

Junior Noemi Jimenez was tied for first heading into the home stretch, but a bogey on the final hole dropped Jimenez down to a tie for third with Texas A&M’s Marijosse Navarro.  Jimenez has a two-day total of 3-under 141 (67-74).

Through 36 holes, three Sun Devils are tied for 11th place.  Freshman Monica Vaughn, who shot an even-par 72 on Friday, is currently tied with teammates Justine Lee and Laura Blanco.  Lee had another solid day on the course, carding a 2-over 74 on day two of the West Regional.

Putting her first round 77 in the rearview mirror, Blanco kicked it into high gear on Friday.  Blanco carded four birdies for the day and tied her season-low 69, which she shot in the final round of the Dale McNamara Invitational last fall.

After shooting a 4-over 76 on Thursday, junior Emilie Alonso had a rough day on the course in the second round.  Alonso is currently tied for 81st with a two-day total of 14-over 158 (76-82).

While Southern California and Arizona State sit in a tie for first place after Friday’s round, No. 11 Washington is only two strokes back with a 4-over 580.  Kyung Kim of USC and SooBin Kim of Washington are currently tied for first on the individual leader board with a 4-under 140.

The NCAA West Regional concludes tomorrow at Tumble Creek Club.  Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
