Seniors Sean Mannion, Michael Doctor and Ryan Murphy, and junior Isaac Seumalo have been selected 2014 Oregon State football team captains. The four were selected via a vote of their teammates.

Mannion is the first Beaver ever to be named captain three years and was the first sophomore in the program’s history with the honor. The senior quarterback has thrown for 10,436 career yards (10th in Pac-12 history) and is poised to break the Pac-12 record of 12,274 yards set by former USC Trojan Matt Barkley. Mannion set the league mark for single season passing yards last season with 4,662. He already holds 11 OSU passing records and has earned numerous postseason honors.

Doctor will serve as a captain for the second straight year. The senior linebacker was granted a fifth-year of eligibility by the Pac-12 Conference in March after suffering a season-ending ankle injury in game two last year.  He has 185 career tackles and is one of the most experienced defenders in the Pac-12 with 26 starts.

Murphy and Seumalo are both first-time team captains. Murphy is a senior safety with 28 career starts and 170 career tackles. Seumalo has started 25 games, mostly at center, and is among the nation’s elite offensive linemen after garnering postseason honors his first two seasons.

Oregon State returns to the practice field in preparation for the upcoming season Aug. 4 with the season opener Aug. 30 at Reser Stadium against Portland State.

Deposits are being accepted for 2014 OSU season tickets for home games that include Portland State, San Diego State, Washington State, Arizona State, California, Utah and Oregon.
