CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State outfielder Jeff Hendrix has been selected in the 39th round, 1,173rd overall, by the Kansas City Royals on Saturday in the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Hendrix, a draft-elighible sophomore, is the eighth Oregon State player to be taken in this year’s draft, following Michael Conforto, Jace Fry, Dylan Davis, Ben Wetzler, Scott Schultz, Andy Peterson and Kavin Keyes.

A first-team All-Pac-12 selection this season, Hendrix batted a team-leading .351 with 11 doubles, five triples, two home runs and 32 runs batted in over 46 games. He also stole four bases and recorded two outfield assists in 2014, his first season as a starter.

The selection is the first of Hendrix’s career.
