Glenn Earns Runner-Up Finish In State Match Play

Jul 2, 2014

LONE TREE, Colo. – University of Colorado women’s golf newcomer Tori Glenn is shining on the links this summer, earning a runner-up finish at the 99th Colorado Women’s Golf Association Match Play on June 26 at the Lone Tree Golf Club.

Glenn defeated Butler’s Megan McCambridge 2 up, Lewis University’s Rachel Sweeney 4 and 3 and 2001 Colorado Golf Hall of Fame inductee Janet Moore 4 and 3 to reach the 36-hole title match. Battling back from a double bogey-bogey start, Glenn cut the deficit to one down through 19 holes, but fell just short of one of the association’s most prestigious championships.

The accomplishment is especially impressive for Glenn, a two-time 4A State Champion from Castle Pines, Colo., as she only been playing competitive golf since her sophomore year at Valor Christian. Glenn turned to golf after a serious injury ended her gymnastics career and began playing her new sport on a broken leg.

“I am so happy for Tori,” CU head coach Anne Kelly said. “She is working very hard on her game and the results are starting to pay off.  Tori had wins against a couple of very good players in her matches, and for a relatively young golfer, she should take away a lot of confidence from her performance in this event.”
