Roundup: Major flooding at UCLA
In some very unfortunate news, a water main broke at UCLA Tuesday and there was serious flooding at Pauley Pavilion and surrounding areas. Here’s an update from UCLA AD Dan Guerrero on UCLA’s athletic facilities and an article from the Pac-12 Networks Newsroom about the UCLA flooding.
Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo! Sports writes that Oregon men’s basketball incoming freshman Ray Kasongo has been denied admission to the school and will look to play elsewhere. According to Eisenberg, the news was first reported by DuckTerritory.com.
Bay Area college football media day is Wednesday at Levi’s Stadium, and Cal will be represented by Sonny Dykes, Chris Adcock and Brennan Scarlett.
Great news here: Former Colorado defensive lineman Will Pericak signed with the Denver Broncos Wednesday. Pericak spent last season on the practice squads of the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Diego Chargers.
Some more great news here: Former Oregon State basketball player Eric Moreland has signed a three-year contract with the Sacramento Kings. Dude was a rebounding machine at NBA Summer League (and at OSU, of course).
Here is the newest Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame class, as announced by the school. A couple of the more popular names include Nicole Barnhart and Notah Begay, III. And this is sort of Stanford news: Tennis player Sabine Lisicki hit the fastest serve in WTA history when she smashed one 131 MPH at the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford University in a first round match Tuesday.
Utah men’s basketball coach Larry Krystkowiak and his staff are headed to China to coach the Pac-12 All-Star Team that will tour the country. The preceding link is a feature from the Deseret News about the upcoming trip in August.
