Cougar Soccer Wraps Up Fall Camp
PULLMAN, Wash. – After two weeks of preparation in fall camp, it is game week for the Washington State soccer team.
The Cougars’ roster consists of 17 returnees (14 letterwinners) and eight newcomers (seven freshmen). Washington State opens its regular season, Friday, Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. against TCU in televised match on the Pac-12 Networks.
The match against the Horned Frogs will be the first at a renovated Lower Soccer Field. The venue received $2.4 million budgeted worth of upgrades in the offseason. The Cougars will practice on a new grass surface for the first time, Tuesday. In addition, lights and a new scoreboard are part of the facility’s facelift.
Washington State seeks its sixth postseason trip in the last seven years. The Cougars are one of 28 schools nationally to appear in five of the last six NCAA Championships. Last season, Washington State set or tied over 30 school records and now turns the reigns of the program over to first-year head coach Steve Nugent.
