Heisman Trophy Winner Joins Pac-12 Networks’ Studio Analyst Roster for 2014
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. (August 28, 2014) – Pac-12 Networks announced today that former USC quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart has joined its on air roster as a studio analyst to bolster its already experienced talent lineup this fall.
Leinart will make his Pac-12 Networks debut on Saturday, August 30, joining Mike Yam, Rick Neuheisel and Curtis Conway for Pac-12 Networks’ pregame, halftime and postgame show coverage in Week 1. The team will provide highlights, recaps and analysis of all the action around the Pac-12 and throughout the college football landscape.
In addition to his gameday duties on Saturdays, Leinart will appear on the Networks’ series Pac-12 Football Weekly and will also be featured in the Networks’ bowl game and spring football coverage.
The Santa Ana native achieved several impressive milestones as USC’s starting quarterback from 2003-05, including 2004 Heisman Trophy honors and a Rose Bowl victory against Michigan. That same season, he became USC’s first junior to win the Heisman and led the team to its second consecutive national championship. He is only the third quarterback in the last 30 years to lead his team to back-to-back national titles. Leinart was 37-2 as a starter, and ranks third on USC's career passing (807 completions, 10,693 yards) and total offense charts (10,623 yards).
Following his career at USC, Leinart was drafted 10th overall in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He continued his professional football career for six years with the Cardinals, Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders.
