San Diego State's Olsen voted men's soccer Player of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference announced SAN DIEGO STATE's David Olsen as the Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for week two of the season.

Olsen (Fircrest, Wash.) scored the game-winning goal in each of the Aztecs’ two victories over ranked opponents and was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Aztec Soccer Tournament. The freshman scored the game-winning penalty kick in the 87th minute and tallied a team-high four shots in SDSU’s 2-1 win over No. 25 Clemson on Friday night.  He followed up with a pair of goals, including another game winner, in the Aztecs’ 4-3 win over No. 19 Denver on Sunday.

This is Olsen’s first-career weekly honor. Through four matches this season, Olsen leads SDSU with three goals and six points. He’s also tied for the team lead with four shots on goal and is second on the team with seven total shots attempted.

The Aztecs will be at home again this week, this time against Wright State on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. PT, and Pacific on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. PT.. For more information and to view the 2014 television schedule, visit www.pac-12.com.
