Pac-12 Schedule, Home Times Set For Women’s Basketball

BOULDER – The Pac-12 Conference has released the 2015 women’s basketball schedule in conjunction with the Pac-12 Networks while the University of Colorado has finalized the times for all home games.

Colorado will be featured on the Pac-12 Networks 12 times during the league season, marking the third consecutive year the Buffaloes will have double-digit regional or national television appearances. Entering this season, Colorado has tipped off on 127 national or regional telecasts since the fall of 2001, and 28 since the advent of the Pac-12 Networks in 2012.

“We are excited about our schedule this year,” head coach Linda Lappe said. “We have great home games, both conference and nonconference, and can’t wait to connect with our faithful at the Coors Events Center. We’ve been near the top for home attendance in each season in the Pac-12 and we want to keep building that momentum.”

Colorado’s first eight Pac-12 games will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks as will five of the Buffaloes’ nine home conference games. All remaining home games, and conference road games, that aren’t televised will be scheduled to be streamed live through Colorado’s Pac-12.com video portal.

The Buffaloes’ Pac-12 schedule once again features home-and-home series with seven schools, and one-game battles with four others. Colorado will host Oregon and Oregon State and travel to California and Stanford for those single-game meetings.

A challenging start to the league schedule awaits the Buffaloes as they tip off Pac-12 play at defending regular season Pac-12 champion Stanford on Saturday, Jan. 3 (8 p.m. MT, Pac-12) and California on Monday, Jan. 5 (8 p.m. MT, Pac-12).

Defending Pac-12 Tournament champion USC comes to Boulder for Colorado’s Pac-12 home opener on Friday, Jan. 9 (8 p.m. MT, Pac-12); the first of three-straight at home. UCLA visits on Sunday, Jan. 11 (2 p.m., Pac-12) and Utah on Wednesday, Jan. 14 (7 p.m., Pac-12).

Utah and Colorado will play their home-and-home series in consecutive games for the third-straight year as the Buffaloes make the return to Salt Lake City on Sunday, Jan. 18 (12 p.m., Pac-12).

With a trip to the Pacific Northwest on schedule for the following weekend, Washington on Friday, Jan. 23 (8 p.m., Pac-12) and Washington State on Sunday, Jan. 25 (2 p.m., Pac-12), the Buffaloes open with five of their first eight Pac-12 games on the road.

“The Pac-12 continues to keep the best players in the west and it’s going to be a really tough conference season once again,” Lappe said.

“We’re going to have to get through a tough first month but with that, and our nonconference schedule, it will prepare us for the second half as we head into February and March. We have a group of seniors that have played a lot of minutes in their careers and they know the importance of being inspired each and every game.”

To balance out a heavy road start, Colorado will head into February with 6-of-8 at home. The Buffaloes will first host the Arizona schools, Friday, Jan. 30, vs. Arizona State (7 p.m.) and on Super Bowl Sunday against Arizona on Feb. 1 (11 a.m., Pac-12).

Following a trip to Los Angeles, UCLA on Friday, Feb. 6 (TBA), and USC on Sunday, Feb. 8 (1 p.m., Pac-12), Colorado plays its next four at home. The Buffaloes play Washington on Friday, Feb. 13 (7 p.m.) and Washington State on Sunday, Feb. 15 (5:30 p.m.). Colorado’s game against Washington State will feature a men’s-women’s doubleheader at the Coors Events Center that day, as the CU men are scheduled to host Stanford at 2 p.m.

The Buffaloes wrap up their home schedule with Oregon State on Friday, Feb. 20 (6:30 p.m., Pac-12) and Oregon on Sunday, Feb. 22 (2 p.m.).

Colorado’s nonconference schedule was released in July, featuring no less than six home regular season contests. The Buffaloes will open the season at home against North Dakota in the first round of the Preseason WNIT on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m., with the potential to host three additional games during that tournament which culminates with the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 23.

Colorado State, TCU and Missouri State will make up the Omni Hotels Classic Tournament Nov. 28-29 at the Coors Events Center with games at 5 and 7:30 p.m. each night.  TCU and Colorado State face off in the opener on Friday, Nov. 28 with the Buffaloes and Missouri State to follow. The consolation and championship games will be played on Saturday night.

Colorado has three nonconference home games in December, San Jose State on Friday, Dec. 5 (11 a.m.), Wyoming on Sunday Dec. 21 (2 p.m.) and Long Beach State on Tuesday, Dec. 30 (7 p.m.). The 11 a.m. start for San Jose State will be part of a field trip day for area middle school students.

The Buffaloes have three scheduled road contests, at Denver on Tuesday, Nov. 25 (7 p.m.), at Iowa on Sunday,  Dec. 7 (TBA), and at Missouri on Friday, Dec. 12 (TBA).
