Knapp’s Birdie Gives Bruins a Shared Victory at Husky Invitational

The 10th-ranked UCLA men’s golf team tied for first place with Oregon in a dramatic finish, and UCLA players won both individual competitions at the Husky Invitational in Bremerton, WA.

On the Gold Mountain Golf Club’s Olympic Course where the team competition was held, UCLA tied with Oregon at three-over par 867. The Bruins were four-over par with junior Jake Knapp on the 54th hole. Knapp made a birdie to give the Bruins co-victory honors. San Diego State finished third at 873 (+9), followed by Washington at 874 (+10) and UC Davis at 876 (+12).

Knapp drove the green on the 300-yard final hole, but had to chip over the fringe for his second shot. He left himself a big right-to-left breaking 15-footer for birdie, which he made to give the Bruins a shared victory. Knapp also won individual honors, winning by three strokes with a three-round total of 209 (-7) after a final round of 71 (-1).
