Men’s XC Remains No. 1 In USTFCCCA Poll
NEW ORLEANS – The University of Colorado men’s cross country team is still the top ranked team in the country according to the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll, which was released on Tuesday afternoon.
The men recorded all 12 first-place votes for 360 points for the fourth straight poll this year. In fact, the top four teams have remained the same in every poll this season. Northern Arizona has held down the second spot with 340 points. Oregon, the second-best Pac-12 school in the poll, is third with 338 points and Oklahoma State is fourth with 321 points.
The CU women’s team moved down one spot to eighth this week with 274 points despite not competing for the last few weekends. The Michigan women, just like CU’s men, have been the top women’s team in all four polls this season with 355 points. Michigan State moved into the second spot this week (345 points) and Oregon is third overall with 332 points. UM recorded eight of the 12 first-place votes, while MSU took three first-place votes. UO picked up the final first-place vote on the women’s side..
Both of CU’s teams are the top ranked team in the Mountain region rankings. The men are in front of No. 2 NAU, while the women are in front of New Mexico, which is ranked 12th nationally.
The Buffs host the Rocky Mountain Shootout on CU’s South Campus at the Buffalo Ranch Cross Country Course this Saturday, October 4. The men’s 8-kilometer race is at 9 a.m. and the women’s 5.8k race will follow at 9:45 a.m. Parking and admission are free.
