UCLA's Lee named Pac-12 women's golfer of the month
SAN FRANCISCO – Alison Lee of UCLA has been named the Pac-12 Women’s Golfer of the Month for September, the Pac-12 announced today.
Entering her second year ranked No. 1 among U.S. college players in the GolfWeek preseason poll, Lee is back on the links after an impeccable freshman campaign. The No. 2 Bruins began their season with a trip to South Carolina to compete in the Cougar Classic (Sept. 14-16) where they faced a field that included eight teams currently ranked in the top 25. Sitting in 14th place after the first day, Lee carded eight birdies to shoot 66 in her second round, and completed the final day with a 69 to finish tied for second with a 10-under 206 (71-66-69). This was her 10th career Top 10 finish, and 23rd career round under par. These efforts helped the UCLA team to a second-place finish at the Cougar Classic.
The sophomore from Valencia, Calif, leads the team with a 68.6 scoring average. In 27 career rounds, she has shot 32-under par overall.
The Bruins will be back in action at the Stanford Intercollegiate, Oct. 17-19, in Stanford, Calif.
