Men’s Golf Heads to Georgia for U.S. Collegiate Championship

Senior Manav Shah will lead the fifth-ranked UCLA men’s golf team this weekend at the 9th annual U.S. Collegiate Championship, hosted by Georgia Tech at the Golf Club of Georgia.

Shah, ranked 29th nationally in this week’s GolfStat poll, leads the Bruins with a victory and a scoring average of 69.8 in six rounds. He also boasts a pair of Top 10 results in both of his starts this season, as well as four rounds under par, tied for the team lead.

Also competing for the Bruins will be juniors Lorens Chan, Jonathan Garrick and Jake Knapp and senior Preston Valder. Chan and Knapp also have posted four rounds under par, and Knapp recorded his first collegiate victory last month in the Husky Invitational.

UCLA headlines the 15-team field, which also includes sixth-ranked Stanford, No. 8 Auburn and ninth ranked Texas. The Bruins last won here in 2011.

The Golf Club of Georgia course will play to a par of 72 over 7,017 yards.
