Women’s Golf Team Travels to Stanford

Sophomore Alison Lee will lead the eighth-ranked UCLA women’s golf team this weekend at the 20th annual Stanford Intercollegiate.

Lee, ranked third nationally, leads the Bruins with a 68.6 scoring average and three rounds under par. Currently, Lee is the third-ranked amateur in the world. She is the defending champion in this tournament and the only UCLA player ever to win medalist honors in the tournament’s 20-year history.

Also competing for the Bruins are senior Erynne Lee, sophomore Bronte Law and freshmen Lydia Choi and Erin Choi (no relation). Junior Louise Ridderstrom will compete as an individual.

Law, who won the English Ladies Amateur Championship in the summer, was ranked 17th nationally by GolfStat this week. She claims the Bruins’ second-best scoring average at 71.0 in six rounds. Four of her rounds are under par.

The 17-team field includes top-ranked Washington, fourth-ranked Stanford, No. 5 Northwestern and sixth-ranked USC. The Bruins won this tournament in 2001 and 2008. In addition to Alison Lee, the individual field includes 2012 champion Kyung Kim of USC and 2011 titlist SooBin Kim of Washington.

The Stanford Golf Course, considered one of the finest in the country, will play to a par of 71 over 6,130 yards.
