UCLA interception by Marcus Rios seals win against Cal
In a Pac-12 football season already chock-full of memorable finishes, we got another one Saturday at Berkeley. The Golden Bears were threatening to score with less than a minute to play, but UCLA cornerback Marcus Rios picked off a deep pass from Cal quarterback Jared Goff at the 1-yard line to seal a 36-34 win for the Bruins.
Rios’ interception, initially called as such, had to be reviewed by the officiating crew. His bobbling of the ball as he headed out of bounds made it close, but ultimately the officials ruled the play would stand.
The Bruins ended a two-game skid to get them a little momentum, but it sure wasn't easy. UCLA's lone forced turnover was just enough to make up for three give-aways by coach Jim Mora's offense.
