Roundup: Cal's Davis is on the mend

Utah

Athlon Sports named Utah running back Devontae Booker its national player of the week for his 229-yard performance Thursday night against Oregon State. Additionally, check out Utah’s new black helmets the team will wear against USC this weekend.

UCLA

Saturday got off to a thrilling start in the Pac-12, as UCLA hung on to beat Cal 36-34. Afterwards, Jim Mora handed out the first game ball to UCLA cornerback Marcus Rios for his interception to preserve the victory. Last year, Rios had a life-threatening fungal infection.

California

Thankfully, Cal receiver Trevor Davis was released from the hospital after getting hurt on a kickoff return.

USC

A convincing 56-28 win for the Trojans over the Buffs Saturday, a game in which USC quarterback Cody Kessler threw a school-record seven touchdown passes. Also, former USC running back LenDale White says AD Pat Haden kicked him out of the Coliseum that day, while USC says that did not happen. He was, however, escorted out of the stadium.

Colorado

Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre is working to fix the mistakes that cost the Buffs the game Saturday, writes Kyle Ringo.

Oregon

After the Ducks made quick work of Washington Saturday night, The Oregonian’s John Canzano says Oregon is rising again, but wonders whether or not the College Football Playoff selection committee would take Oregon over Michigan State even though the Ducks beat the Spartans.

Washington

Percy Allen of the Seattle Times notes that the Washington rushing attack couldn’t get going against the Ducks, as the Huskies averaged just 3.7 yards per play on the ground.

Arizona State

Impressive win for the Forks Saturday night, blasting away Stanford 26-10. After the game, ASU offensive coordinator Mike Norvell said quarterback Mike Bercovici keeps getting better. Bercovici threw for 245 yards and a touchdown on 23-33 passing against one of the best defenses in the nation.

Stanford

As a result of the loss to Arizona State, Stanford’s AP poll streak is over at 72 consecutive weeks of being ranked by the Associated Press.

Oregon State

Connor Letourneau dissects the important numbers from Oregon State’s loss to Utah Thursday night. QB Sean Mannion is now just 313 yards away from Matt Barkley’s Pac-12 record.

Washington State

Washington State football is trying to develop a winning attitude to reverse its fortunes, pens Jacob Thorpe. You might not realize it since the Cougars are 2-5, but they’ve been more competitive overall in games this year – Washington State lost four games by 20 or more points in 2013 and haven’t lost a game by more than 17 in 2014 through seven contests.

Arizona

If there was one thing to take away from the Red-Blue game, it’s that Arizona basketball has a lot of depth, according to Steve Rivera of FOX Sports Arizona.
