Bears Host Ducks at Levi's® Stadium This Week

Cal faces its first ranked opponent this season when the Golden Bears square off against No. 6/7
Oregon on Friday, Oct. 24, in the first college football game ever at Levi’s® Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., the new home of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. The Ducks come to the Bay Area as the first place team in the North Division of the Pac-12 and with a five-game winning streak against Cal.

Cal is among NCAA and Pac-12 leaders in several categories. The Bears rank in the top 20 nationally in passing offense (3rd, 372.1 ypg), team passing efficiency (3rd, 167.35), kickoff returns (8th, 26.38 ypr), scoring offense (10th, 41.6 ppg), kickoff return defense (14th, 17.47 ypr), third-down conversion percentage (15th, 50-106, 47.2%), punt return defense (17th, 3.67 ypr), total offense (18th, 496.6 ypg), passing yards per completion (18h, 14.16 ypc). Cal ranks second in the Pac-12 in scoring offense, passing offense, team passing efficiency, kickoff returns and
third-down conversion percentage.

National honors candidate quarterback Jared Goff ranks second in the Pac-12 and in the nation
in touchdown passes (24). He also ranks second in the Pac-12 and fourth nationally in passing efficiency (173.1 pepg), third in the Pac-12 and sixth nationally in passing yards per game (354.6 ypg). Goff is also second in the Pac-12 in passing yards per completion (14.02 ypc), third in the Pac-12 in points responsible for (144), yards per pass attempt (9.09 ypa), points responsible for per game (20.9) and total offense (344.1 ypg), while ranking 21st, T-3rd, 12th, 6th and 8th nationally. In addition, he is third in the Pac-12 and 9th nationally in completions per game (25.29).

Cal has scored 50 or more points in a game three times in 2014. The Golden Bears also scored
50 points or more three times in 1922 and 2010, while the 1920 team holds the school record with four games of 50 or more points.

Chris Harper is Cal’s active career leading receiver in receptions (136), receiving yards (1,730),
total touchdowns (12), receiving yards per game (57.7) and games played (30). He is also three
catches shy of Cal’s top-10 list for career receptions.

Running back Daniel Lasco scored two rushing touchdowns in the same game for the first time in his career last Saturday against UCLA. Lasco currently ranks seventh in the Pac-12 in rushing (74.7 ypg). He has scored a team-high eight total touchdowns this season (six rushing, two receiving) and is tied for eighth in the Pac-12 in scoring TD’s (6.9 ppg).

Cal has 42 players that have played for the first time this season, including 23 freshmen and 10 true freshmen. The Bears have also used 19 other players for the first time in their career.

Cal forced a season-high three turnovers last Saturday against UCLA, and turned those three
turnovers into a season-high 20 points off turnovers (three touchdowns, two extra points). The Bears entered last week’s contest with a combined total of 21 points off of turnovers for the season.

Cal has played in the two highest scoring games in modern-era school history (since 1937) in two victories in 2014 against Colorado and Washington State with the teams combining for 119 points at Washington State and 115 points vs. Colorado.

Trevor Davis was tabbed as a third-team Phil Steele Midseason All-American as a kick returner
last Friday and was one of five Bears named to the Pac-12’s Midseason All-Pac-12 team. Davis was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection as a kick returner, while Chris Borrayo (OL), Jared Goff (QB), Mustafa Jalil (DT) and Griffin Piatt (DB) were named to the second team. Piatt will miss the remainder of 2014 due to injury.
