SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal women’s basketball team has enjoyed unprecedented success under Lindsay Gottlieb. In her first three years in Berkeley, the Golden Bears have gone 79-24 with at least one NCAA tournament win every season and a trip to the Final Four. The 79 wins are the most in a three-year span in Cal history, and while Gottlieb certainly deserves a lot of credit, she couldn’t have done it without Brittany Boyd and Reshanda Gray.

Or, as Gray once called the duo, "Corn Flakes and milk." Now seniors, Boyd and Gray have been integral parts of the Golden Bear effort ever since they stepped foot on campus. Both players earned all-conference accolades in the 2013-14 campaign, while Boyd earned honorable mention All-American status from both the WBCA and Associated Press.

As important as their on-court chemistry has been to Gottlieb and Co., it’s their off-the-court friendship that really stands out.

“I think we’ve built a great friendship off the court that translates on the court, but that’s my road dawg,” Boyd said of Gray Wednesday at 2014-15 Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Media Day. “Me and Reshanda are always with each other, always hanging out. That’s a true friendship, and a friendship I’ll carry for a lifetime.”

“It’s special to see it,” Gottlieb added. “They love one another. They respect one another. They make each other better. It’s fun to be around that.”

While the two friends may be seniors, this is far from their last year playing basketball at a competitive level.

“We have two potential first-round WNBA draft picks,” Gottlieb said. “I hope that Cal fans and the Cal community can appreciate what we get to watch with these two growing through the years together.”
