Men’s Basketball Claims No. 2 Preseason AP Ranking
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Associated Press released its preseason poll Friday morning, and Arizona debuted as the No. 2 team in the nation with a total of 1,518 points and five first-place votes.
Earlier this month, UA was also tabbed the preseason No. 2 team nationally in the USA Today coaches’ poll.
Arizona’s No. 2 preseason ranking is its highest since being tabbed the preseason No. 1 in the AP poll prior to the 2002-03 season. The Wildcats have been ranked in 41-consecutive AP polls, including 21-straight weeks in the top 10 and 19-straight in the top five.
UA has been ranked in every AP poll over the course of the last two seasons, one of only seven programs nationally to be able to make that claim. In 2013-14, Arizona was the lone program in the country to be ranked in the top 10 in each AP poll. For the latest updates on Arizona men’s basketball and an inside look at the program, follow @APlayersProgram on Twitter and @uaplayersprogram on Instagram.
