Shawn Kemp and Robert Upshaw power Washington past South Carolina State
Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar is known for regularly coaching NBA-caliber guards in Seattle, but it looks as if the Huskies’ strength may lie in their big men in 2014-15 as forward Shawn Kemp Jr. and center Robert Upshaw led the way for Washington in their 77-59 win over South Carolina State Friday in Seattle – a game seen on Pac-12 Networks.
The 6-foot-9, 255-pound Kemp dominated down low for 17 points and six rebounds, while the 7-foot, 250-pound Upshaw was equally powerful in the paint as he finished with 14 points and seven rebounds – and most impressively – tied the Washington school record for blocks in a game with seven.

A senior, Kemp has been a mainstay in the Husky lineup for a few seasons now, but Upshaw was a new and welcome sight for UW as a transfer from Fresno State who sat out the 2013-14 season.
