PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State women’s basketball appeared in the receiving votes category of the Associated Press Top-25, released this week.
The Cougars enter tonight’s game at Hampton with a 3-1 record, their best start since 2005-06. WSU has posted wins over No. 22 Dayton, Idaho State and Seattle while dropping a game to No. 16 Nebraska last week. The Cougars received one votes in the AP poll this week after receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll last week.
Washington State also received votes in the coaches’ poll towards the end of last season after beating four ranked teams throughout the season including No. 20 California at the Pac-12 Conference Tournament. It was the first time the Cougars received votes in a top-25 poll since midway through the 1991-92 season. WSU received votes on three different occasions that season following the 1990-91 campaign that saw the Cougars earn the program’s only trip to the NCAA Tournament.
