This Week in Pac-12 Women's Basketball
With the holidays just around the corner, the Pac-12 continues to feature three teams ranked in the top 25. This week will feature a number of top-25 opponents as well. The Pac-12’s last undefeated team, 16/14 OREGON STATE, returns to action on Tuesday after being off since December 6. The Beavers’ six-game road trip begins at No. 6 North Carolina and continues in New Orleans for Tulane’s two-day Doubletree Classic.
7/7 STANFORD travels to the Volunteer State to take on Chattanooga on Wednesday and to long-time rival No. 11 Tennessee on the SEC Network on Saturday. Meanwhile, No. 2-ranked UConn will play UCLA as a part of the Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge on Sunday on ESPN2. No. 19 Oklahoma State will make a visit to USC on Sunday, starting a Pac-12 Network doubleheader, culminating with 24/23 CALIFORNIA and 10/10 Louisville at 2 p.m.
The conference’s hottest team, WASHINGTON, winners of eight-straight, are in Southern California to take on San Diego State and UC Riverside this week. Two weeks remain in the non-conference schedule before Pac-12 season begins for most teams on January 3. USC and UCLA open up the slate on December 30.
Four Pac-12 teams are averaging over 80 points per game, led by Washington’s 87.2 points per game (third in the NCAA). Oregon State and Stanford are two of the nation’s top three-point shooting squads, each hitting over 40 percent from beyond the arc. OSU is hitting an NCAA-leading 42.9 from three-point range. Stanford is sixth.
