Cal Women’s Golf Quartet Competes at Silver Belle

CHANDLER, Ariz. – In a field of 112 of the top young female golfers, a quartet of California women’s golfers finished the second of three rounds Monday at the 44th Annual Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.

Alice Jeong sits 28th overall and is third in the 19-23 age flight with a two-round score of 71-73=144 (E) to lead the Golden Bear contingent through 36 of 54 holes at the tournament.

Hannah Suh, who won the 2012 Silver Belle tournament, sits 48th and is seventh in the same age flight with a two-round score of 75-73=148 (+4) at the par-72, 6,500-yard course. Classmate Carly Childs is 82nd overall and 11th in the same age flight with a 77-75=152 (+8).

Rounding out the Golden Bear effort after Monday’s second round is Natalie Mu who sits 98th overall and 15th in the same age flight with identical 78’s in both rounds for a 12-over 156.

Competition concludes Tuesday beginning with a 9:30 a.m. tee time.

COURSE: Whirlwind Golf Club (par-72; 6,250 yards) – Chandler, Ariz.

FORMAT: The Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship is a leading national junior tournament pairing girls and women 13 - 23 years of age in a 54-hole stroke play championship. Points earned in the tournament go toward players’ World Amateur Golf Ranking.
