Stanford's Brown named Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week
SAN FRANCISCO - STANFORD senior guard Anthony Brown has been named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for play from Dec. 22-28, the Conference office announced today in a vote of media who cover Pac-12 men’s basketball.
The Fountain Valley, Calif., native scored a season-high 25 points in Stanford’s overtime upset of No. 9 Texas on Tuesday. Brown drove inside for the go-ahead basket with 1:08 left in overtime that led to the Cardinal’s 74-71 victory. He went 9-for-17 from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 mark from three-point range, knocking down all four three pointers in a row to forge a 31-31 tie at the half. Brown was also 3-for-3 from the free-throw line, adding four rebounds, two steals and a block in his career-high 41 minutes.
The honor marks Brown’s first-career weekly award. It is Stanford’s 48th player of the week selection all-time.
