Jan 16, 2015

TEMPE, Ariz.—The No. 32-ranked Arizona State women’s tennis team is set to open the spring slate on Saturday, hosting UC Davis at the Whiteman Tennis Center, with first action beginning at Noon MT.

This marks the season openers for both teams, and ASU is 9-0 against the Aggies all-time. Last season, the Sun Devils picked up a 7-0 win over UC Davis in their second match of the year.

Three Sun Devils are featured in the first week of the ITA tennis rankings, with junior Desirae Krawczyk at No. 37 in the singles list and junior Ebony Panoho tabbed at No. 62. Panoho and sophomore Gussie O’Sullivan are listed in the doubles rankings at No. 53.

Last time out, ASU rounded out the fall portion of the schedule by hosting the 20th annual Thunderbird Invite in November. The Sun Devils went 26-14 on the weekend, with O’Sullivan and Panoho picking up wins in the second round of the Maroon Draw consolations on the final day of competition.

Up next, the Sun Devils will head out to Evansville, Ill., and will face Northwestern on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. MT. On Sunday, Jan. 25, ASU takes on either Rice or Kentucky, time TBA.
