Jan 19, 2015

SAN FRANCISCO - ARIZONA freshman forward Stanley Johnson has been named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for play from Jan. 12-18, the Conference office announced today in a vote of media who cover Pac-12 men’s basketball.

The Fullerton, Calif., native averaged 20.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game as No. 10 Arizona defeated COLORADO and No. 8 UTAH to run its home-game winning streak to 32 games, the second-longest active streak in the country. Johnson’s 22 points in the 68-54 win against Colorado were a season high and marked the first 20-point game of his collegiate career. Against Utah, Johnson’s 18 points and nine rebounds all came in the second half, sparking Arizona to a 69-51 victory in the first meeting of top-10 teams in the Pac-10/12 since 2008.

The honor marks Johnson’s second-career weekly award, as he earned the honor earlier this season on Dec. 1, 2014. It is Arizona’s 88th player of the week selection all-time.

Arizona travels to the Bay Area this week, facing STANFORD on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN2 before heading to play CALIFORNIA on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Networks.
