Cal's Brittany Boyd scores layup after getting stuck under scorer's table

Jan 25, 2015

Stuck under the scorer's table, things weren't looking good for Cal women's basketball star Brittany Boyd. She knows how to make the most of a bad situation, though.

It was early in the second half of Sunday's 72-57 win against UCLA in Pauley Pavilion, when Boyd went hurtling toward the sideline trying to fight for a loose ball. In the aftermath, Boyd's right shoe got wedged between the floor and the scorer's table, but she got some help from referee Bob Scofield before ripping herself free. Boyd recovered just in time to get a fast-break layup on the other end after her teammates forced a steal despite playing with just four defenders. Boyd also spoke with Pac-12 Networks' Tammy Blackburn after the victory.

This isn't the first time a Pac-12 women's hoops player has overcome footwear problems. Just last week, Colorado's Haley Smith had to play two possessions after one of her sneakers fell off.
