Stanford's McNealy named Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Month
SAN FRANCISCO – Maverick McNealy of STANFORD has been named the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Month for February, the Pac-12 announced today.
The sophomore from Portola Valley, Calif., who is currently ranked No. 6 in GolfStat, posted a pair of top-2 finishes to start the spring season, including a win at The Prestige for his third victory of the year. He’s the fifth player in Stanford history with three wins in a single season, joining the likes of Tiger Woods, Patrick Rodgers, Zack Miller and Joel Kribel.
McNealy shot a 15-under 201 (67-69-65) to open the spring season with a second place finish at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawai’i. He followed that performance with another 15-under 201 (68-69-64) to claim medalist honors at The Prestige at La Quinta, Calif. His 64 helped to pace Stanford to a third-round 20-under, tying the best single round in program history, and a second-place finish in the team race.
In 21 rounds this season, McNealy has a scoring average of 69.19.
Seven Pac-12 teams are currently ranked in Golfweek’s Top 25 - No. 6 USC, No. 10 STANFORD, No. 13 UCLA, No. 17 ARIZONA STATE, No. 19 OREGON, No. 21 CALIFORNIA and No. 22 WASHINGTON.
The Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championship is April 27-29 at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.
