Women?s Golf Downs Boise State in First Round of Match Play

Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.—The No. 22 Arizona State women’s golf team downed No. 73 Boise State, 4.5-0.5, in the first round of match play at the SDSU Farms Invitational.  The Sun Devils will face No. 19 Pepperdine in round two’s championship bracket on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,237-yard Farms Golf Club.      

Noemi Jimenez, Monica Vaughn, Sophia Zeeb, and Ashleigh Greenham all won for Arizona State on Monday.  Jimenez was the top finisher for the Sun Devils, recording a six and four advantage over the Broncos’ Oceane Pelloille. 

Rounding out the Sun Devil lineup, Vaughn, Zeeb, and Greenham each recorded two and one advantages.  Liti, golfing in the No. 1 spot for Arizona State, halved her match against Boise State’s Samantha Martin.   

The Sun Devil squad is second behind No. 15 Tennessee in par-four scoring and carded 12 birdies on the day.  Individually, Jimenez was 2-under on par-four holes, averaging 3.75 strokes.   

Second round action will begin at 7:15 a.m. PT with tee times on holes one and 10.  The third round will begin at the conclusion of Tuesday’s morning round.  Live scoring is available on BirdieFire.com.
