Cal & UCLA take early lead in Pac-12 standings
PREVIEWING THE WEEKEND SERIES: Cal (5-1) and UCLA (5-1) will look to continue to hold its conference leads with games at Utah and at Washington State, respecitvely. UCLA’s rotation has accounted for 12 wins this season, while USC’s has picked up 11.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: OREGON STATE’s Drew Rasmussen and his perfect game and CAL’s Lucas Erceg and his clutch home run hitting earned Pac-12 Pitcher and Player of the Week honors on March 24. Rasmussen and Erceg were also named two of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week. Rasmussen was also the national pitcher of the week by the NCBWA, the fourth national player of the week for the Pac-12.
RASMUSSEN used just 103 pitches to pitch the fourth Pac-12 perfect game in conference history. The first three, all by Washington State, occurred in 1968, 1971 and 1973. This time, the Beaver righthander struck out 10 Cougars and induced 11 groundballs in a brisk one hour and 44 minutes.
ERCEG who ranks second in the Pac-12 with six homers, hit three this past weekend. The first two, on Friday and Saturday at Washington in the eighth inning, gave the Golden Bears 3-2 leads. He had three hits, two doubles and a homer in the Sunday finale.
NATIONAL RANKINGS: The Pac-12 features up to seven teams in the national top-25 in either Baseball America or Collegiate Baseball. No. 9 Arizona State, No. 22 Oregon and No. 9 USC have all been ranked inside the top-25 all season.
