Women?s Rowing Set to Race at Pac-12 Challenge

The Oregon State women’s rowing team is back on the race course this Saturday for the Pac-12 Challenge at Redwood Shores, Calif. The Beavers will face Virginia in morning racing and will conclude the day with races against Oklahoma.

OSU is slated to race four boats, the First Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, First Varsity 4+ and Second Varsity 4+. OSU’s 2V4+ will face crews from California in both races.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Racing for the Beavers at the Pac-12 Challenge runs from 9:20 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the morning session. Afternoon racing starts at 1 p.m. and concludes at 2:30 for OSU.

9:20 a.m. – Women’s First Varsity 8 vs. Virginia
9:50 a.m. – Women’s Second Varsity 8 vs. Virginia
10:20 a.m. – Women’s First Varsity 4+ vs. Virginia
10:30 a.m. – Women’s Second Varsity 4+ vs. California

1:00 p.m. – Women’s First Varsity 8 vs. Oklahoma
1:30 p.m. – Women’s Second Varsity 8 vs. Oklahoma
2:00 p.m. – Women’s First Varsity 4+ vs. Oklahoma
2:30 p.m. – Women’s Second Varsity 4+ vs. California

QUOTING HEAD COACH EMILY FORD: “This weekend is really about what was learned last week (at Gonzaga) and applying that to two races in one day. We’ve got great competition in Virginia and Oklahoma and this offers a good opportunity to see how our efforts in practice this week are working for us.”

LAST YEAR AT THE PAC-12 CHALLENGE: Oregon State faced Virginia and the University of San Diego last season at the Pac-12 Challenge. The Beavers were swept by the Cavaliers in morning racing, but rebounded to defeat USD in the 1V8 and 2V8 races.
