SEATTLE  –  Oregon State beat Washington, 4-1, Saturday night in front of the largest crowd in Husky Ballpark's two-year history, giving the Beavers a 2-1 series win.

A crowd of 2,360 fans saw the Huskies (24-21, 8-15 Pac-12) held to four hits by two Oregon State (29-14, 12-9) pitchers.

Oregon State scored twice in the third to jump ahead of the Huskies and never looked back. No. 9 hitter Caleb Hamilton got the scoring started with a solo home run to left off UW starter Josh Fredendall.

The Beavers made it 2-0 later in the inning when Jeff Hendrix tripled home a run.

OSU added runs in the fifth and seventh, both on runs batted in by first baseman KJ Harrison. He hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth to drive in one run and a fielder's choice two innings later to drive in the other for a 4-0 lead.

Washington's best chance to get back into the game came in the eighth when they loaded the bases on three walks. But Oregon State closer Mitch Hickey caught Brendan Berry looking to strand the bases loaded.

The Huskies lone run came in the ninth. Chris Baker singled and advanced to third on consecutive passed balls and wild pitches. He came around to score on a Joey Morgan ground out. One batter later, Nyles Nygaard grounded out to end the game.

OSU starter Travis Eckert scattered three hits in 7 2/3 shutout innings to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Fredendall (3-1) gave up four hits and two runs in four innings and was handed his first loss of the season.

Baker was 2 for 4. Alex Schmidt and Nygaard had the other hits for the Huskies.

The Huskies return to action next weekend with three games in Tucson against Arizona.  The Friday through Sunday series will be telecast by the Pac-12 Network.
