SAN FRANCISCO – Maverick McNealy of STANFORD, who captured medalist honors at the Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championships, has been named the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Month for April, the Pac-12 announced today.

The sophomore from Portola Valley, Calif., opened the month of April with a tie for fourth at the Western Intercollegiate as he led the Cardinal to a third-place finish at the Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Clara, Calif.

However, it was McNealy’s performance at the Pac-12 Championships that capped his stellar month of play as he led Stanford to a successful defense of its Conference title. He shot 18-under for the 72-hole Championship at Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Wash., including a course-record 61 in the final round to capture medalist honors by 10 strokes. It was his fifth victory of the season. His total score of 262 established a Conference Championships record for low score over four rounds.

For McNealy, it’s his third Golfer of the Month honor this season. He is currently the No. 1 ranked individual by Golfstat and Golfweek, and posts a 68.68 stroke average.

Also nominated for golfer of the month honors  were Jon Rahm, Jr., ARIZONA STATE; Brandon Kida, Jr., UTAH; Frank Garber, WASHINGTON.
