SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference office announced the softball weekly honors for play from May 4-9. UTAH’s Kate Dickman was voted Player of the Week, while CALIFORNIA’s Katie Sutherland-Finch was named Pitcher of the Week and Cal’s Kobie Pettis was named Freshman of the Week.

Dickman (Mission Viejo, Calif.) recorded a hit in all but one at-bat against the No. 20 Washington Huskies this weekend, going 7-for-8 at the dish for a batting average of .875 with a pair of doubles and one home run. With the final game of the series cancelled due to rain, she finished the weekend scoring four runs, knocking in five, posting a 1.500 slugging percentage and going 1-for-1 in stolen base attempts. The senior began with a perfect 3-for-3 outing with three runs scored and three RBI along with a double as Utah posted a 12-1 run-rule victory over the Huskies. She then went 4-for-5 in a 7-5 loss on Friday, posting two RBI and one run scored with a double and a home run. Dickman finished the regular season hitting .448 and set a new school record for doubles in a season with 20 on the year.

Sutherland-Finch (Hillsboro, Ore.) notched three victories as No. 19 Cal swept Stanford, marking the Golden Bears’ first sweep of a Pac-12 opponent since March 2013 and the first sweep of the crosstown rival Cardinal since 2012. The sophomore threw 12 strikeouts while allowing just three earned runs and four total runs, recording an ERA of 1.66 in her three appearances. She began with a seven-inning complete-game effort on Thursday, striking out seven while allowing just six hits and one earned run in the 4-1 Cal win. Sutherland-Finch then made a relief appearance on Friday, sealing the 4-3 victory in the final inning. She had another complete game, pitching 5.0 innings in Sunday’s 11-2 run-rule victory over the Cardinal, striking out four in the process.

Pettis (Jackson, Calif.) was the offensive drive behind Cal’s sweep of Stanford, with a .500 weekend (4-for-8) that included her first-career grand slam, as well as seven RBI and five runs scored. Her four-bagger came in the bottom of the seventh in the series opener, with the Golden Bears down 1-0 to Stanford and bases loaded before the freshman launched the grand slam for the 4-1 walk-off victory. She scored one of Cal’s four runs in Friday’s 4-3 win, then had a perfect 2-for-2 day on Saturday with an RBI single and a two-RBI home run to help Cal win, 11-2, in just five innings.

Dickman earns her first-career weekly honor and the 10th overall for the Utes, with seven of those coming in the 2015 season. Sutherland-Finch picks up her second-career weekly honors, and Pettis earns her first, with Cal now totaling 91 weekly honors.

Utah and Cal, along with five other Pac-12 squads, earned berths to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship and will begin regional action this Friday, May 15. For more information, including a full schedule, visit https://pac-12.com.
