Fields Named to Canadian Women's Team European Exhibition Roster
TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA – Canada Basketball has announced the roster that will participate in two exhibition tournaments in Europe. UCLA junior guard Nirra Fields earned one of 13 spots.
With Olympic qualification on the line at the 2015 FIBA Americas Women’s Championship in Edmonton in August, Team Canada is heading to Europe to prepare. Canada’s six-game tour will feature a match-up with third-ranked Spain, fourth-ranked France and other European opponents.
“This is an exciting time for this group," said Head Coach Lisa Thomaidis. "The talent level is very high and we are ready to test ourselves against some strong teams during this European tour."
A few senior athletes still in the pool for the 2015 Pan Am Games and FIBA Americas roster will not attend the European exhibition due to injury, professional contract and/or academic commitments.
